Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Poinciana Christian Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
God
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He exist in three personalities: the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. All three are biblical forms of himself.
Jesus
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life on earth. He then offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. After three days, He rose from the dead, demonstrating His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven in glory and will one day return to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Holy Spirit
He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He has gifted every believer. As Christians, we are called to walk in the spirit daily. We do this by living under His control daily.
The Bible
The Bible is God’s inerrant Word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God; it is the truth without any measure of error. It is the sole written authority for all believers.
Sin
Sin is an action that offends God. The moment we commit sin we are separated from God. God and sin can’t come in contact with one another. Our sin dooms us for punishment in hell. We believe that we are accountable for our sins when we knowingly commit them. We do not believe in original sin.
Salvation
Salvation is God’s prepaid gift to us, but we must choose to receive it. We can never make up for our sin through self-improvement or good works. Only through faith in Jesus Christ—God’s offering of forgiveness—can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. We can have assurance of our salvation when we turn from a self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith: a faith that believes with the heart, confesses with the mouth, repents through a transformed life, and is baptized (immersed) into Christ Jesus.
The Church
The Church is the body and bride of Christ on earth, founded on the day of Pentecost, consisting of Christians everywhere.
Church Leadership
God has ordained that elders provide spiritual leadership and guidance, exercising servant leadership over the entire congregation.
The Second Coming
Jesus Christ will one day return, at which time He will pronounce the eternal fate of all people, both living and dead: the saved to eternal life in Heaven, and the unsaved to eternal separation from God in hell.
